Stretch marks are often associated with women, but the truth of the matter is that male stretch marks are just as prevalent.
Male stretch marks are more visible in those who develop stretch marks while weight lifting. If a male develops an excessive amount of muscle definition too fast while
lifting weights, there is a good chance that he will develop stretch marks. Although the skin is capable of stretching, it requires time to adjust. Stretch marks from weight lifting can best be avoided by adopting a weight lifting program that gradually produces muscle definition.
Another large group of those who develop male stretch marks are young adults who are going through puberty. Male stretch marks are common among young teens because there is a significant change in the hormonal system of this group of individuals. It is quite common for young males to experience growth spurts over a summer. These growth spurts can result in male stretch marks. Because these young adults have confidence issues, they may attempt to accelerate the natural growth rate by lifting weights. The dramatic results in growth can also result in stretch marks. While natural growth is something a young adult is unable to control, they can control how they attempt to make themselves bigger.
In many cases, men with male stretch marks aren’t as concerned about their appearance as women. For those with male stretch marks that want to do something about them, the products that are available on the market for women to treat stretch marks are also beneficial for male stretch marks. The problem is that many products for the treatment of stretch marks contain fragrance that may be considered too feminine for some males. When searching for a remedy for male stretch marks, it is a good idea to search for products that do not contain a light fragrance or none at all. Lotions such as Palmers Cocoa Butter are excellent for treating male stretch marks since they are quickly absorbed in the skin and don’t have an overwhelming smell.
